[Review] Zaid Tabani - "Limbo"
Zaid Tabani who, until recently, went by the handle RedrappeR is well-known in the FGC thanks to his fighting game focused tracks. These include Quarterhouse Kings, World Warrior, Evolve, Prime, and the various intros he's done for the Evolution Championship Series (EVO). Zaid has returned once again with the Limbo EP.
[Review] Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
I played the original Etrian Odyssey when it came out for the Nintendo DS in 2007, some of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard in 2008 as well as 2013’s Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan, so I have some history with the series of quest-based first-person dungeon-crawlers. The previous entries were not my cup of tea, but Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl is pretty unique. This entry features a full Story mode, in addition to its standard/”Classic” mode -- a first for the series. It is also a reimagining and a remake of the first game.
[Review] Movie Edit Pro 2014 Premium
I’ve been doing video editing for roughly 12 years, and I’ve used such software as iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, even the problematic Adobe Premiere. They’re all good software, but as my skills increased, so did my need for something more capable. Luckily MAGIX has a line of video editing software named Movie Edit Pro. Movie Edit Pro 2014 Premium has a number of features, including precise video editing on up to 99 tracks, full 4K and HD support for AVCHD/HDV camcorders and action cameras and full Stereo3D support, 4K and HD editing, secondary color correction, multicam editing (for two cameras), and over 1500 unique effects and templates.
[Review] Grand Theft Auto V (360)
Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto has always been a controversial franchise. It’s also one of the best selling games, too. Five years after its last numeric entry, Rockstar is back at it again with Grand Theft Auto V, one of the most anticipated titles of the year.
[Review] Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 9
MAGIX is back again to help users do what they want, for a fraction of the competition’s price. This time, it’s with Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 9 (PGD9), a program that claims to be “much faster than many competitor’s products and produces files that can be 10x or more smaller,“ as well as “The Best Photo Software For The Best Price.”
[Review] Diablo III (PS3)
Diablo III, the third installment of Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo franchise has finally hit consoles. Its original PC and Mac OS X versions were released on 2012.05.15. The game set a new record for fastest-selling PC game, selling over 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release. It was also the best selling PC game of 2012, selling more than 12 million copies during the year.
[Review] Make Your Own Music with MAGIX Music Maker 2013 Premium
I’m sure at some point in our lives, we all want to make music. Unfortunately, not all of us are musically inclined, so that makes things tough. Thankfully, MAGIX has come to the rescue with its Music Maker series of software, letting you “Make Your Own Music.” I first came across MAGIX, late last year while returning to video editing. I needed better software than just Windows Movie Maker. An acquaintance on Twitter, Constantin Gabor @highballsport suggested I try Movie Edit Pro. I did and subsequently bought the software. Initially, I was skeptical because it was only $70. Normally media editing software that cheap isn't very good. BOY WAS I WRONG. I love it! If I knew beforehand I would've purchased Plus or even Premium.
[Review] Divekick - The One True Game
13 characters, 2 buttons, 1 shot. This is all there is to 2D fighting game, Divekick at first glance. However, there is a bit more to it than just that. The Divekick Wikia states that "Divekick is a satirical fighting game based solely around a joke made by Editor-and-Chief ofShoryuken.comAdam "Keits" Heart, 'What if there was a game called Divekick, and the characters were Dive and Kick, and the buttons were Dive and Kick?'" Divekick made its first official appearance at Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament 8 (May 25 - 27, 2012) and since then, the fighting game community (FGC)’s support and love for the title has steadily increased. It soon got to the point where everyone wanted to play it, including world champions of other games.
[Review] Storm Chaser Gamepad - The Perfect Storm?
Help with accessibility in games can come from the most unexpected places, such as peripherals not designed for accessibility. The Storm Chaser Gamepad is one such thing. It’s a PS2 controller made by peripheral manufacturer InterAct. On paper, it sounds like a perfect storm, but should InterAct have taken more precautions before chasing? Since the initial release of MadCatz’s Street Fighter IV FightPads, I’ve been saying that we need regular controllers with 6 buttons. Little did I know however that there was one. Coming across the Storm Chaser was a happy accident. A friend of mine, Tim, who runs a used game store called Game Craze found it in back and saved it for me.
[Review] PS2 One Handed Controller - Control in the palm of your hand
Mass-produced accessible controllers are hardly commonplace. While this is unfortunate, it’s also the truth. Most times we have to rely on the modding community for accessible controllers. Luckily, the UK-based ConsolesandGadgets.com has released their "PS2 One Handed Controller." The PS2 One Handed Controller seems to be a reproduction of the now-discontinued DragonPlus RPG Duo Con 2. I say "seems," because I’ve never had the latter, only the former. I came across the PS2 One Handed Controller while researching accessible controllers, a couple years ago. While it did take me a year to purchase one, and it’s far from perfect; I can say that it’s one of the best buys I’ve made.
